Magna Canada Movember Team Captain Claire Brennan works as a Health Promotion Coordinator for Magna International. She travels to Magna divisions across the greater Toronto area educating and promoting health.
It is Claire’s second year participating in Movember and she is moving 60 km over the month in support and to raise awareness and funds. Claire was Mo’tivated to participate last year after the loss of her grandfather who had prostate cancer, and within the same week the loss of a male family member to suicide. Claire believes in the work Movember is doing providing funding to research and education on the top men’s health issues. As she has both family and friends impacted by cancer and mental health issues this movement is very important to her.
Movember Fact: Movember founded the Movember Awareness and Education Campaign in 2011 to make a significant impact on men’s health through increased understanding of the health risks men face, encouraging men to take action to remain well, and ensuring that when men are sick they know what to do and take action. Movember also co-founded the Social Innovators Challenge to support the development and trialing of innovative ideas that could lead to creative solutions that increase levels of social connections and feelings of belongingness for men; particularly those who are at greater risk of becoming socially isolated. These include key ‘at risk’ population groups including new fathers, unemployed men, divorced men, and men of low socio-economic status.
Thank you Magna Mo Sista Claire for joining the Magna Canada Movember team, sharing your Mo’tivation and making a difference in changing men’s health!
